Mingi Jeong is joining Virginia Tech Aerospace and Ocean Engineering department as a tenure-track assistant professor.

The core research question in my lab is “How can we create persistent and robust robot decision-making systems that function in complex, unstructured environments—where intelligent systems can have profound societal impact, such as in environmental monitoring, transportation, and search & rescue?”.

🤖 AI/ML for perception in the ocean and aerospace domains
🧠 Robust decision-making in uncertain and dynamic environments

3. 모집 대상
For the upcoming 2026 hiring cycle (Spring and Fall), I am actively seeking motivated and dedicated Ph.D. students to join my research team. Together, we will pursue real-world validated robotics research with impactful algorithmic and systems contributions, with a strong emphasis on marine applications.

* Start date: Spring 2026 (Deadline Sep 1, 2025), and Fall 2026 (Deadline Dec 30).
The students who will apply for Spring will be given priority. I highly encourage you to contact me early.
