My work focuses on artificial intelligence in healthcare, including the areas of robotics, human-robot interaction, machine learning, internet-of-things, clinical decision support, and personalized medicine. I am currently working on research projects using robotic pets for therapeutic purposes with elderly patients, development of robotic sensor systems for tracking in-home patient health, and studying social cognition through human-robot interaction to create more life-like AI devices. It is basically "applied data science".

Recent graduates have found positions at Coupang and Amazon. Many of my former students are working in Silicon Valley companies.

We work with international teams of researchers from the US, Europe, South Korea, Japan, and beyond, so English is a necessity. Some programming experience (e.g. Python), machine learning/deep learning skills, or hardware experience (e.g. arduino) is also useful, but the main thing is having curiosity to learn new skills. We build devices that don't exist yet to collect data, in order to solve real-world problems
